Demonstrating

My decision to make videos of the making of the paintings has been very successful.

Live demonstrating restricts the flow of the painting, it does not show the way a painting comes together until it's finished. You will see the thought processes, mistakes and development showing you that painting isn't easy. I want you to see how it really is so you will always know if you're not happy it's because the painting isn't finished yet!

We will be creating artworks that rely upon us being aware of our instincts when painting.
Learning to trust our own judgments and to make decisions to enhance the work. This works very well with paintings we are creating from our imagination or using an image for inspiration.

When depicting the physical appearance of things is preferred, we still need to use our instincts and be honest about what we have put down on the canvas. In this case, we need to know how to mix colours well and be visually accurate when measuring the subject.

Working through the sessions, I will suggest topics to paint. However, in the spirit of what I want to achieve, if you have ideas of your own or work you would like to bring along, that would be perfect. Painting in your own style or preference is part of your decision choices that make your paintings unique.
